Character Information
Name: Death the Kid
Canon Origin/Series: Soul Eater
School Year: 5th
Gender: COCKCOCKCOCK
Age: 16
Out of school living location: Death City, Nevada
Blood status: So pureblood

Personality: Kid is very intelligent, analytical, and precise; a genius of sorts. He is determined to bring forth a perfect world, with an absolute balance of good and evil, and is described as the perfect boy. However, in his search for perfection, he became consumed by it, developing OCD and an obsession with bilateral symmetry. In Kid's mind, symmetry is the ultimate form of perfection and he finds anything symmetrical beautiful; even his favorite number being 8 because of its symmetry. He likes things to be orderly in general, wanting things 'neat and tidy' and 'proper'. Conversely, when he sees things that AREN'T symmetrical, he expresses disgust at it, trying to destroy it, or even becoming physically ill at the sight of it. He isn't capable of destroying anything symmetrical, and if he does by chance, he gets massively depressed. This poses a problem as he has three white stripes on the left side of his head, thus he HIMSELF isn't symmetrical. In that way, Kid p. much hates himself, and is described as having a negative soul, a soul that is balanced by the positive souls of Patty and Liz.

Other than that, Kid can be described as having a strict sense of morals, being very stubborn/set in his ways (especially concerning symmetry) as well as being rather spoiled, due to being raised in a privileged household. Kid places a great deal of importance into finding the truth of things, even when they're unpleasant. Upon discovering that his father has some connection to the dark mage Eibon, he seeks to find out the reason for it rather than turning a blind eye. He is very dignified and high class in a way, and throughout the series, he often mentions his duty as a god of death and is proud of his lineage, getting angry when people dare to mock shinigami. He is loyal to his friends, (even though some of their messy ways disgust him at times) always willing to help them when they're in need...unless something symmetry related distracts him or halts him except in the MOST dire of situations, like when his arm is laying halfway across the floor. However, he DOES occasionally have relaxed moments where he's like a normal boy, like doing skateboard tricks and playing basketball.

Canon Background: In Soul Eater, Death the Kid's father, Shinigami-sama, is the god of death i.e. the Grim Reaper. Long ago, before the start of the series, Shinigami-sama was ruthless in dispatching witches and evil demons who were throwing the world into disorder and disarray, and in order to keep the world from insanity once more, he sealed away the god of destruction, Kishin. Souls who have lost their way and are taking negative paths are referred to as 'eggs of Kishin'.

Adopting more playful speech and a less frightening skull mask (to not scare the children), in order to prevent the rebirth of Kishin, Shinigama-sama formed Shibusen, a school in Nevada for young meisters and weapons to train and become stronger, defeating wayward eggs of Kishin. Meisters are humans who can wield weapons, and in the series, weapons are able to take a human form, in addition to their normal forms, which vary from scythes to swords to lamps. But Kid's case is a little different as he wasn't a human who attended Shibusen at all, and is actually a young god of death. Typically, shinigami don't have to make their own weapons, but Kid chooses to regardless.

As someone obsessed with symmetry and determined to become a perfect shinigami, Kid stubbornly refused countless partnerships; his father picking out weapons for him to possibly use. Despite whatever girl was shown to him, all were turned down; none suitable in his eyes because he couldn't wield them while staying symmetrical. It wasn't until the fateful day where he was being robbed in an alley by the 'Demon Thompson Sisters' that he found his match. They were a pair of guns named Patricia 'Patty' Thompson and Elizabeth 'Liz' Thompson who turned into a younger and an older sister capable of wielding one another as weapons. But most importantly, in gun form, they were perfectly symmetrical.

When the sisters found themselves ganged up on by a large group of men with guns, Kid stood up for them and defeated the thugs, and offered that they team up together, which they presumably accepted. They apparently intended on using Kid's status as a Shinigami for money and power, but they came to genuinely care for him. Typically, it would be extremely difficult for a meister to synchronize with two weapons, but because of their mutual admiration of each other, its possible. Patty and Liz, having grown up on the streets of Brooklyn, admire a dignified soul like Kid's while he admires their positive personalities in contrast to his negative one. Most of the time when he falls into a depression over symmetry, be it about the stripes on his hair or a picture frame being off by a millimeter, it takes encouragement from the both of them before he can cheer up (when Patty isn't laughing at him, that is).

As stated before, Kid didn't actually attend Shibusen at the start of the series, as he is a shinigami and therefore much stronger both in actuality and potentially than all the students there. He is shown taking a mission that is typically for much more advanced meisters, one that takes place in a pyramid called the temple of Anubis. Here, his OCD really comes to light, as he leaves the Patty and Liz there to rush home and make sure a picture frame in his room isn't tilting somewhat, leaving them to fight mummies by themselves, and when he returns, he then finds he can't fight the pharaoh in his sarcophagus because he has perfect symmetry. Only when the pharaoh leaves the sarcophagus and is shown to be anything BUT symmetrical does Kid attack it with swift prejudice, calling it disgusting and trying to remove the offensive sight from his eyes. Unfortunately, this leads to him destroying the perfectly symmetrical temple, which sends him in a massive state of depression.

Eventually, he (along with Patty and Liz) does join Shibusen of his own wishes, and while he is a badass, it seems his desire for perfection is more of a hinderance than anything else. Despite that, he befriended the other two main teams of the series, and seems to get along with them well--although Black☆Star often disgusts him with his sloppy nature and his tendency to destroy the perfect symmetry of Shibusen. Kid also fails a test because he is too much of a tard to write his own name.

Later, Kid goes with the Thompson sisters to see the ruins of a town eaten by a ship called the Ghost Ship Nezuheg. He boards the ship and while Liz gets separated from the group, the Flying Dutchman says that the souls are for Kishin, and when Kid inquires further, Dutchman says they were for the Kishin closest to them. Then Crona shows up, Kid whups his/her ass and he gets distracted by a symmetrical horizon and doesn't finish him/her. After that, he seeks out Shinigami for him to explain, but he answers rather cryptically.

Shibusen anniversary = Kid making speech and failing due to B☆S. Also, Medusa punkd's everyone and goes to revive Asura. During Medusa's takeover of Shibusen, Kid is hindered by his OCD several times over the course of the mission; being disgusted by Eruka's bomb placement and the disorderly ruins of the place -- until Black☆Star runs into him. Despite that, it's Kid and B☆S that make a run for stopping Eruka and Free from injecting the black blood while Maka is fighting Crona. Asura is revived, and then they all play basketball. Maka fails. Also, Arachnophobia, oh my god. Double threat all the way cross the skyyyyy~

Kid throws a party and everyone is nice to Crona and then he has to go chase a train. He is excite because of its famed punctuality and after doing some skateboard tricks, Liz, Patty, and Kid fight off against Fisher King (and to a smaller extent, Mizune) to get the demon tool powering it. Fisher King tells Kid that the artifact was made by Eibon and that it bears Shinigami's mark as well. Upon opening it, Kid finds that his father's old name, Death, and signature are on the tool along with Eibon's. He isn't able to ask the reason for it because Sid shanks Fisher.

Kid goes seeking answers, and tries to use his pimp cane and gold teef status to get a high level book on Eibon, but it's been checked out by M, who Kid thinks is Medusa. Team resonance times; Maka and B☆S brawl while Kid derps, but they eventually resonate as a team. They go to get brew, and see 800 years into the past when Shinigami was badass and looking for Brew. They tell Marie and Stein to gtfo, and go look for brew themselves. They run into Mosquito, he kicks their ass, they team resonance and there is an unnecessary scene with Soul playing the piano, they kick MOSQUITO'S ass, then they realize it was fruitless anyway and (although Kid could probably stay longer being a Shinigami and all) they run back and Marie hugs them.

Kid and Maka are supposed to do an extracurricular activity but Kid has massive failure due to his OCD and weeps like a punk bitch and goes home, leaving Maka and Soul to their own devises against Clown man. Medusa shows up at Shibusen all tiny with bloomers and Brew and then puts herself at the head of an operation to take out Arachnophobia. Kid is chosen to be Medusa's bodyguard, and unbeknown-st of Medusa, he is aware of Death Scythe's trailing the group because trusting Medusa = foolishness. They don Arachnophobia robes and Soul and Kid get hit in the balls by the witch Angela, Kid doing so with a little bit too much gusto. Kid then has to destroy lock 8, and Free fails and goes there by mistake and both of them take on Mosquito. They kick his ass, then he does his "Imma go back x00 years" a third time and shanks them. Kid's arm is lying across the floor from him, and Mosquito decides to start saying "yo' papa" jokes, Kid gets angry and the Brew in his ass is activated.

It connects one of Kid's Sanzu lines and he becomes liquid badass, unlocking his Shinigami powers and reattaching his arm. Kid does not freak over his hair for once (quite an accomplishment) and uses this extra power to beat up Mosquito, but not without taking damage. Free destroys the lock and Mosquito runs off to protect Arachne. Kid follows him, and sees him get OWNED by EibonNoah in like .0573 seconds, tries to perform flee, but he can't escape! He throws Patty and Liz so they don't get eaten and gets sucked up in Noah's book.

There's more, but, he's more or less been in book land when he's not being beaten up by Chuckles Gopher.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): Kid's legend began in the 12 century background starts before he was even born. His father was an extremely ruthless and formidable Auror named Death, so talented and indiscriminate at dispatching dark wizards that his fellows among the wizarding community began to refer to him as Shinigami-sama, or the Grim Reaper. Death remained a harsh executioner of evil wizards until he met and fell in love with Kid's mother, settling down in the all wizarding town of Death City in Nevada, in the U.S. Soon after, Kid was born, and the joys of parenthood softened Shinigami-sama into a much more lax and laid back person, going from his prior frightening speech to a playful sing song.

The young Kid, ever the enthusiast for defeating evil, happened to tag along on one of his father's missions nearby their mansion without Shinigami-sama's knowledge, and when the dark wizard was attempting to attack Death, Kid got in the way, and though the attack mostly missed him due to Shinigami-sama's quick actions...it had an odd side effect, leaving 3 white stripes on the left side of his head. Shinigami-sama found these stripes cute and so he left them, unknowing of the fact that they would cause Kid major depression in the future. Although it's debatable whether he would have removed them anyway, knowing his laid back nature.

Death the Kid pursued excellence, maintaining excellent skill in magic at a very young age due to home schooling and natural aptitude. He avidly sought knowledge and learning more spells, determined to be perfect and to bring the world into perfect order by becoming the best Auror ever, just as his father had. His already meticulous nature and OCD bloomed into an obsession with perfection, wanting to be wholly flawless in every way imaginable. And this turned to a preoccupation with symmetry, making him refuse holding his wand with one hand, or even using it if it wasn't at an exact center with the line of his body. Kid eventually sought to purchase an EXTRA wand that was the sister of his first one so that he could have two because having a wand on only one side depressed him and started using both when performing magic. This was a silly self-handicap but despite that, Kid had talent that far exceeded most his age, and his skills outweighed the awkward requirements that hindered him from using them.

After the incident with the dark wizard, Shinigami-sama decided it was high time to switch careers to something that would have less of a chance of harming his cute son. He switched to a more tame, but very high ranking position in the United States Ministry of Magic, and remains there still, at times reporting to the base for the American Ministry in New York City. On one such occasion, he decided to bring Kid, who'd recently turned 12, along. Finding himself in awe of the perfectly symmetrical architecture of a particular building, Kid was left to explore the city.

With some irritation, he was distracted from his reverence by the frightened noises of a man around the corner, and upon looking for the source, he saw a muggle being robbed by two young witches, both of their wands pointed at the man's throat. The taller witch performed a fire spell, singing the man's tie to show she was serious, while the smaller giggled sinisterly; both demanding he empty his pockets. At that moment, Kid stepped in, demanding they halt what they were doing, and the sisters turned around to face him. This proved enough of a distraction for the muggle to run away, causing them to instantly hound on Kid for distracting them, pointing their wands at him next. When he showed no apparent fear of their power, they eventually glared before moving off, leaving Kid to consider chasing and obliviating the muggle before he was to tell anyone what he'd seen.

He next heard screams, and rounding the corner again into a dark and secluded alley, Kid found the two witches who'd just been hassling him being surrounded by five wizards who looked anything but friendly. Instantly casting a leg-locker curse on the nearest wizard, the distraction gave the witches (Patty and Liz) a chance to open an assault themselves. Finding himself working together with the two sisters, Kid marveled on how they worked together, both casting the exact same spells within milliseconds of each other without even indicating to the other, and maintaining perfect symmetry on either side of Kid, intentional or not. Despite the fact that Kid had previously been the ones stopping them, the three of them proved to be a formidable team when working in conjunction with each other, and as the final wizard fell, Kid's mind came to a resolution.

Less than savory wizards out-of-commission, Kid turned toward Liz and Patty to insist that they team up; a pair of twin sisters with such a symmetrical style too good to pass up--although their asymmetrical appearances drove him mad to no end. One thing lead to another and, after Kid informed his father and the Ministry about what had occurred there, the Thompson Sisters and Kid became a team that day, all residing in Kid's mansion with him. Their positive personalities help cheer him up when he feels depressed (read: often), although his spoiled nature and obsession with symmetry does irritate Liz from time to time.

Above all, though, Death the Kid seeks to bring about a perfect world with a perfect balance of good and evil. Although he has been home-schooled his entire life, upon hearing about the Death eater attacks on Hogwarts, he demanded that his father enroll him, wanting to assist in whatever way he could, and also gain more skill as a wizard. After getting approval from Dumbledore, Kid entered Hogwarts two years ago, and excelled at Arithmacy, Potions, and DADA, in particular while being absolutely awful at Herbology messsssssy and anything that requires him to be timely (read: most classes). BECAUSE HE TAKES FOREVER TO DO EVERYTHING. Also, he has not been allowed to use both wands at once, so he has to content himself with carrying both wands to keep his pockets balanced and using each of them an equal amount of times.

Joining Hogwarts, Kid became privy to the ups and downs of the school; the horrendous curses which occasionally caused him to act in completely unacceptable ways or mortified him, the quidditch injuries, but also, Kid made a great deal of friends. He befriended Maka, Tsubaki and Crona, and found a fellow lover of neatness and order in Maka in particular.

But while Kid befriended many, there were also a few less than savory people he befriended, one of which was Belphegor. He became associated with him without really being aware of his generally bigoted behaviors, and when Minato was shanked and left for dead, he was surprised and the event forced him to really take a look and what he'd come to Hogwarts for and to be more vigilant in his efforts to help and try to make a difference. And in the light of the Wizarding War, Kid will probably want to kick Death Eater ass and take names.

...Assuming he can deal with his own disgusting self, that is.

How would your character fit in to each House? HE'D NEVER BE IN THAT-

Gryffindor: Kid has that system of honor down-pact. He has a lot of integrity and a firm system of right and wrong. He takes challenges and can be cocky about his status, but it's mostly warranted I mean, hurf derf, Shinigami and he backs it up by being awesome. He's no coward, and he has nerve, but he's definitely not as much of a shonen retard as some of the others. He's a little too 'look before he leaps' for Gryffindor and most of the time he can't really overcome his fears and hangups when the going gets tough. He does push forward, though, and is ready to fight if called upon. He's big on the duty thing as well.

Hufflepuff: Kid is loyal to his friends; when Gopher was saying he was going to kill Maka, he got furious, and when Noah was trying to suck him into his book, Kid threw Patty and Liz so that only he would get taken. He is also hardworking in the sense that he really DOESN'T need to train weapons but he is because he rolls like that. He also cries a lot, which we all know is a very Huff trait. However, if Kid is freaking out about semmet-tree, you can bet he's not going to do a thing for you, and while he's dedicated when it comes to making things symmetrical or doing his job as a shinigami, he's sort of a spoiled brat and isn't really hardworking in other areas. He made Black☆Star CARRY him over water and makes Liz and Patty carry his shit, he's a little baby.

Ravenclaw: Kid is a textbook claw, he's intelligent and clever, as well as being analytical and a perfectionist to the extreme, liking orderly things, even with his generally prim and collected attitude. He also seeks the truth, and places a good deal of importance in finding out the real truth to things. Aesthetics are also extremely important to him (in reference to symmetry and things lining up properly) something that is more favored toward Ravenclaw than other houses. When he comes upon B☆S in the library, he was looking for a book on art, and he's actually pretty talented artistically if his sketch of his vision for Liz's eyebrows is any indication. He's a spaz in other aspects with him getting massively depressed over imperfection, but this is overall the best house for him.

Slytherin: Kid is very ambitious. He has a lot of really grandiose ambitions to make a neat and orderly world with everything in balance and that is his ultimate goal in life. You could say that a lot of his intelligence lends itself to being called cunning, but I wouldn't say that it's at that point because cunning implies more of the art of deception, which is not so much Kid's style. He IS clever and resourceful, though, and can think quickly on his feet. Kid is a pureblood, and it's pretty damn pure FOREVER, but Kid isn't prejudiced against others due to blood status, so...spit. Also, he's not a leader, full-stop. :V

Sample Interaction Post in First Person:

Whomever decided to adjust 2 suits of armor to be looking 3 inches towards the left, you are making a MOCKERY of the overall balance of this institution! And being uncertain of whether the other suits of armor were also in such a disheveled state, I was forced to miss both Potions and Transfigurations to compensate for checking on each suit of armor in the school. I'm certain that my truancy will be understood given the immense gravity of the situation, HOWSOEVER-!

It is repugnant and furthermore unacceptable. For them to be looking towards the left puts them in direct line with...

...

.....with my...

.......Could. Could they have been...m-mocking my disgusting self? Looking at those filthy stripes on my hair?

Goddamn it....why...I'm not worth the trash on the street...I'm a worthless piece of rubbish. I don't deserve symmetry...I should die.

Sample Interaction Post in Third Person: Death the Kid carefully adjusted his neat striped tie. Perfect. He folded down the collar of his crisp white shirt. Perfect. He smoothed the lapels of his black robe. Perfect. He was in perfect symmetry. True, he had missed Astronomy last night just to get ready in time for school the next day...but the important thing was being symmetrical. And now he could go down just in time for breakfast. Sharp golden eyes shifted over to the clock to take in the time.

8:00 am. His lips curled into a smirk. Perfect.

Descending the staircase for the 5th year male dorms, across the common room, through the hallways, and into the Great Hall, Kid finally reached the appropriate table for his house. Twitching (not for the first time) at the fact that there were no seats at the head of the tables in order to maintain symmetry, Kid did as he usually did, pulling a chair from an adjacent table and placing it at the end of the table to sit at. After all, if he took one from his own table, it would be one short on one side! And that would be far worse...

Clearing his mind of such unpleasant thoughts of asymmetry, he turned his attention to eating the relatively decent meals that Hogwarts always provided its students, arranging the food symmetrically on either side of his plate before proceeding to concentrate on eating with refinement and perfection -- something he couldn't say for most of his peers; a vein popping as one first year nearby shoved bacon into their mouth.

Internally calling them disgusting, Kid then looked up at the sound of wings cutting through the air, his eyebrows furrowing.

The owl post. It was nauseating. Dozens of birds flocking into the room, dropping packages in food, feathers strewn around the place and floating down in disarray; it was disgusting, disgusting, disgusting, disgusti--

SPLAT!

Kid inhaled sharply, sweating profusely, his face going blue, head creaking as it slowly turned to look at---

Bird shit.

An owl. An owl had taken a shit on him. An owl had taken a shit on him on ONE side. O-one si---An owl had ruined his perfect symmetry. It had ruined his---h-his perfect---s-symme---

"GRAAAAUUUGHHH!!!"

THUD.

Sprawled on the floor of the Great Hall is a 5th year male, amber eyes rolled in the back of his head, three white stripes on his left side of his black hair, a white splotch on the right side of his once pristine robes, lying in a pool of his own blood.

...And he is definitely NOT symmetrical.
